Job Title: IT Support & Systems Administrator

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the IT Support & Systems Administrator is responsible for administering, supporting and driving continuous improvement of key enterprise IT systems and services to support our business goals. Utilizing their experience, industry frameworks, best practices and evolving trends, the individual will deep dive into our Microsoft 365 environment, and Fortinet and Ubiquity network stack, and on-prem infrastructure; knowing their configurations intimately and working closely with a broad IT team of internal and 3rd party resources to improve the performance of, the return on investment in, and the cyber security risk profiles of these and other key enterprise systems.

As part of a performance driven, user experience centric IT team, the individual will be tireless and proactive in their pursuit of “making things better” while showing a mature understanding of risk and impact. As a senior technical resource, the individual will provide technical escalation to the site IT team, act as a technical lead on strategic and ad-hoc IT projects and assist IT decision making and reporting through the delivery of best-in-class IT performance data and analysis.

The Skeena IT department is a service function to the business; thus, the individual will have a “customer service” mindset, looking to delight end users at all levels of the business with patient and professional in-person end user support at our inspiring, newly built 26th floor downtown office. The individual will be part of a passionate, motivated IT team with high expectations of themselves and each other, delivering on an incredibly exciting mission to construct and then operate a world class, technology forward mine in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee, manage and support the enterprise Microsoft 365 environment, including administration of the Defender suite, Entra, and Intune.
• Administration of Fortinet/Ubiquiti network stacks at site and Corporate office, on-prem Hyper-V servers and IT services including SQL and AD.
• Provide in-office user support and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Serve as the technical escalation point for the site IT team.
• Perform technical implementation roles on a range of IT projects
• Collaborate with the IT Director to develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
• Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Conduct regular system audits and generate reports.
• Create, and update a range of technical documentation including network diagrams, system inventories,
• Travel to the mine site in Northern BC to provide on-site support on key initiatives

Essential requirements:

• Minimum bachelor's degree in a computing/information technology related field
• Microsoft certifications in Azure (AZ-900, AZ104, etc) Endpoint (MD-102, MS-102) or equivalent
• 3+ years professional hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Hyper-V, Active Directory L2/L3 Network Fortinet switching, Fortigate Firewall administration
• Excellent English written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proven experience in user support
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to remote locations.
• Valid Class 5 (minimum) driving license
• Passion, enthusiasm, a desire to learn, and plenty of energy!

Desirable attributes:

• Certifications in, and experience with Fortinet network administration
• Experience supporting and managing industrial wireless technologies and frequencies
• Experience troubleshooting and supporting VHF/UHF 2-way radio
• Experience administrating and supporting Ubiquiti network stack
• Experience in the mining or construction industry or similar environment
• Experience working at a remote site

Work Location & Conditions

This is a full time, in-office role, at Skeena's Corporate office located in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, on a Monday-Friday 8 hours per day schedule. There may be a need for infrequent travel to our remote offices located in Smithers, Dease Lake, or the mine site (located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory) on as needed basis.
