Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations:
    • Efficiently reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
    • Investigate and resolve any variances or issues in a timely manner.
  • Deposit Cheques:
    • Handle the timely and accurate deposit of incoming cheques.
    • Maintain organized records of deposited transactions.
  • Cheque Issuance:
    • Generate and issue cheques according to approved payment requests.
    • Maintain an up-to-date cheque register and monitor cheque distribution.
  • Process Bank Payments:
    • Execute secure and precise processing of outgoing bank payments.
    • Collaborate with relevant departments to verify payment details and ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Payment Schedule Preparation:
    • Prepare detailed payment schedules in accordance with financial obligations.
    • Collaborate with team members to coordinate and confirm payment timelines.
  • Month-End Reconciliations:
    • Perform month-end reconciliations for various accounts, including accrued receivables, accrued liabilities, undeposited funds, long-term debt, and intercompany accounts.
  • Assist team members in the accounting department as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Additional consideration will be given to those having a diploma or enrolment in post-secondary education in either Accounting or Business.
  • The minimum educational requirement for this role is a high school diploma.
  • Have practical experience in accounting or finance roles, demonstrating a solid understanding of financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications for tasks such as spreadsheet analysis (Excel), document creation (Word), and email communication (Outlook).
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, allowing for clear and concise interactions with team members, superiors, and other departments. The ability to work well in a team-based environment involves effective collaboration, sharing of ideas, and contributing to a positive team culture.
  • Possess a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all aspects of their work. This includes meticulously reviewing financial records, reports, and other documents to identify and rectify any discrepancies.
  • This role involves access to confidential financial information and company data. The ideal candidate should exhibit a strong commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and security of such information. This includes following established protocols for data handling, respecting privacy regulations, and being vigilant in safeguarding sensitive data from unauthorized access.
  • Adept at organizing financial data, managing schedules, and adhering to established processes. Being process-driven involves following structured procedures, streamlining workflows, and ensuring that financial activities are conducted systematically.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement in financial processes, systems, and overall efficiency. This involves staying updated on industry best practices, exploring innovative solutions, and actively participating in initiatives aimed at optimizing financial operations.

Other Information

  • This is a full-time position (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm).
  • This position is open to candidates located in our Ile De Chnes, MB office and is an in-person work arrangement.
