Who we need

Reporting to the Director, Digital Learning, we are looking for a Manager, eLearning, to oversee the work of our team of eLearning Specialists and drive the development and delivery of engaging digital learning experiences. As the Manager, eLearning, you will work closely with the Director, Digital Learning, to plan, implement, and evaluate eLearning initiatives, ensuring the effective use of technology and instructional design principles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to develop innovative eLearning strategies and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality online courses and training programs. As a leader, you will foster a supportive, knowledge-sharing environment where all team members grow, thrive, and support our mission to champion student success.

This is a hybrid role, requiring work onsite as needed at our location in downtown Toronto or Fredericton.

As our new Manager, eLearning, you will:

  • Lead the team and their work. You will manage the eLearning team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Optimize processes. You will design and continuously improve processes to manage and track eLearning projects and tasks, providing internal and external updates and reports regularly and as needed. You will collaborate with the Director, Digital Learning, and Manager, Digital Design, to improve, establish, and evaluate processes for the design, development, and delivery of engaging, interactive courses, modules, and learning resources within the LMS and its integrated tools.
  • Implement quality assurance checks. You will develop, implement, and continuously improve Quality Assurance procedures for the eLearning unit. You will collaborate with university-wide partners on Quality Assurance procedures across the course design, implementation, and improvement process.
  • Collaborate. You will work with subject matter experts and other relevant individuals to identify learning needs and develop comprehensive strategies for the eLearning team. You will collaborate with Curriculum Design and Digital Design to manage course development across these units and provide data-informed feedback on areas for improvement. Working with internal and external partners, such as IT teams, vendors, and faculty, you will ensure seamless eLearning operations.
  • Recommend improvements. You will evaluate the effectiveness and impact of eLearning initiatives through data analysis, learner feedback, and assessment results and make recommendations for continuous improvement. You will stay up to date with emerging trends, tools, and best practices in instructional design, educational technology, and digital learning, and drive the adoption of innovative approaches.
  • Drive innovation. Collaborating with the Director, Digital Learning, you will shape and implement a strategic vision for the eLearning team that aligns with organizational goals, overseeing its successful execution. Partnering with university stakeholders, you will contribute to the selection, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise, program-level, and pilot learning technologies. Your focus will be on ensuring optimal functionality and user experience through thoughtful planning, data analysis, and continuous improvement.

You have:

  • The education. You have a Bachelor's or Master's in education, instructional design, educational technology, or a related field.
  • The expertise. You bring proven experience in eLearning/digital learning development and management. This includes a track record of successful leadership in designing and implementing online learning initiatives and course design in post-secondary settings. Your expertise extends to an in-depth understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, digital learning best practices, and accessibility standards and guidelines for digital content. Additionally, you are proficient with learning management systems (LMS), preferably Brightspace.
  • The project management skills. You possess excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines using collaborative, cloud-based digital tools, e.g., Microsoft Office, Service support portals, and software. You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to design data collection procedures, analyze data, and make data-driven decisions. You have successfully led teams and team members responsible for many highly detailed projects, preferably in remote or hybrid work settings.
  • The people leadership skills. You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and stakeholders. You have demonstrable leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, motivate, and inspire a team, provide constructive feedback, and foster a culture of continued collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
