Precision North Machining Inc.is looking for experienced Manual Machinists to join our team. Precision North Machining boasts a fully equipped, locally owned and operated, 40,000 sq. foot machine shop with mechanical, welding and fabrication departments. We offer onsite and field services to our customers.

Our machinists require diversity and the skills to operate manual machines such as horizontal / vertical boring mills, milling machines, large swing lathe, hollow spindle lathe, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, drill presses, lapping machines, honing machines, universal grinders, CNC lathes.

Job Description:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations.
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
  • Fit and assemble machined metal parts and sub-assemblies using hand and power tools
  • Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine shop equipment including manual lathes, milling machines, radial arm drills, grinders, and other equipment to create precision parts for a wide variety of applications
  • Manufacture new hydraulic cylinder components, barrels, rods, heads, and pistons, as well as rebuild worn cylinder components.
  • Machine precision parts to within tolerances of .001”/.01mm
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform regular tool and equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions of machined parts and tools using micrometers, Vernier calipers, height gauges, and other specialized measuring instruments to maintain quality control standards.

Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • Machinist Trade Certificate is an asset
  • Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience and industry courses in machining is an advantage.

· Completion of secondary school maybe required.

· Good English reading, writing and speaking skills.

· Red Seal endorsement will be provided for qualified applicant.

Must be willing to become part of the team, dependable, accurate, flexible.

· Demonstrated ability to work safely in a high hazard environment.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate complicated technical ideas with precision and clarity.

· Demonstrated strong work ethic.

· A positive attitude and collaborative nature.

· Independent and capable of meeting production deadlines with minimal supervision.

· Willing to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines while giving attention to detail.

· Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift moderately heavy objects up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

  • Being mechanically inclined would be an advantage.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work overtime as required
