We are seeking a Records Team Leadto join our team, working collaboratively to support the Records Management program in ensuring theefficient organization, security, and accessibility of records.
Under the direction of the Records Manager, the Records Team Lead will oversee daily operations of theRecords Program, including work planning, task assignments, and supporting staff to achieve programobjectives. This role involves assisting in the development and implementation of records systems, updatingpolicies and retention schedules, and ensuring adherence to best practices in information management. TheTeam Lead will foster collaboration among team members, maintain confidentiality, and promote effectivecommunication with internal and external stakeholders, aligning all actions with Seabird Islands mission andvalues.

What you'll do
Supervision and Leadership:
- Provide overall supervision to the Records program, including supervision of
- work planning, scheduling, and assessment of staffing needs
- promoting shared team goals and collaboration among members.
- Prepare and assist in the preparation of reports and recommendations for the Manager andstakeholders.
- Make presentations and provide advice/guidance on the Records Program.
- Initiate actions required by the Manager and coordinate and monitor assigned tasks emerging frommeetings as directed by the Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
- Help develop Records Management system specifications by using best practices, assessing businessneeds, and clearly documenting requirements.
- Lead, direct and assign Records Management staff daily work activities.
- Help design information management systems by translating information processes into functionalrequirements.
- Support and assist others in the use of technology to accomplish tasks that support RecordsManagement program objectives.
- Review, discuss with Manager and update Records Management Policy and Procedures Manual andRecords Retention Schedule.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
Relationship and team building

What you bring
Qualifications
- Records / Information Management certification, CRM designation or a related certification is required.
- ARMA (Association of Records Managers and Administrators) membership would be a definite asset.
- Minimum five years of records and information management experience, and Minimum five yearsexperience administering Records and Information Management-related projects.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of records and information management principles, practices,and methodologies.
- Must be proactive and well-organized, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong initiative and leadership qualities.
- Attention to detail, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision, solidproblem solving, and advanced analytical skills.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods of time and lifting boxes up to40lbs.
- Ability to work independently and work well with others as part of a team.
Cultural Competency:
- Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues.
- Experience working within Indigenous communities and applying culturally safe practices.
- Understanding of intergenerational trauma and its impacts on Indigenous peoples and communities.
Preferred
- Indigenous candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Lived experience as a member of a First Nations community.
- Knowledge and understanding of Seabird Islands culture, traditions, teachings, community dynamics.
- Ability to respond quickly and professionally to community or colleague needs and inquiries.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Working / Special Conditions
- Initial and ongoing employment is subject to submission of a clear Criminal Record Check to ensure the safety and trust of the communities we serve. This check will be conducted every five years.
- Initial and ongoing commitment to the values and guidelines of Sq'wqel (Seabird Island Band),including our policies, procedures, standards of practice, and laws, is essential. This commitmentsupports our collective work, the community, and the responsibilities of this role.
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver's license and have access to safe and reliable transportation, insured for community-based use, to effectively attend events, trainings, workshops, etc. at other locations.
