Wage range: $43.08 to $56.09
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day
Primary location: CASA Fort Road

About the Role
CASA Classrooms are CASA's new model for school-based mental health service. The program addresses the need for services closer to students by bridging a child's mental health and school needs, through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher. CASA Classrooms are delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.
The Speech Language Pathologist will:
  • Provide services including screening/probing and formal assessment of speech, language, fluency, voice, feeding and swallowing difficulties and related communication challenges.
  • Determine appropriate diagnostic instruments/treatments to use with each patient.
  • Interpret test results in conjunction with other related medical, behavioural and educational information, to identify speech, language, communication and related disorders.
  • Develop, plan and implement programs to correct speech, voice, language, resonance, cognitive-linguistic and swallowing disorders.
  • Monitor, evaluate and modify speech-language therapy care plans based on effectiveness of interventions and/or changes in condition or environment, in collaboration with the patient and care team.
  • Act as a resource and provide supportive training to team members to assist in their professional development.
  • Travel between CASA sites and partner school board sites in Edmonton and surrounding area.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in speech and language pathology.
  • Active registration and in good standing with the Alberta College of Speech and Language Pathologists.
  • A minimum of three years of recent pediatric experience.
  • Mental health experience is an asset.
  • Experience in assessment and treatment.

Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
