As a key position within the Marketing Department, the Website Content Writer reports to the Senior Manager, Brand Content. The Website Content Writer is responsible for writing and managing an integrated content calendar across all owned channels including website, newsletters, and social media. The Website Content Writer will have strong editorial and writing skills to create engaging website copy and blog articles that align with Ottawa Tourisms content strategy. Content will be developed to create awareness, consideration, and conversion for tourism target audiences such as: local residents, leisure tourists, and in support of B2B. The Website Content Writer will monitor, analyze, and report on content performance and provide recommendations for optimization, including keywords and SEO and work closely with the web team. This position is based out of the Ottawa Tourism offices in beautiful downtown Ottawa. Ottawa Tourism employs a hybrid work model, with some ability for all employees to work remotely. In some cases, certain positions will have an ongoing requirement to maintain a physical presence in the office. Such details will be discussed during the application process. Primary Areas of Responsibility Write compelling and informative website content across various formats targeted towards B2C and B2B audiences including articles, blogs, landing pages, event calendars, and member directories ensuring optimal search engine visibility through strategic SEO implementation to outrank competitorsWrite SEO-optimized content to drive qualified leads and sales opportunitiesWork with the content team to create and manage an integrated editorial calendar. Cultivate a multi-layered content ecosystem that drives awareness, consideration and conversions Conduct keyword search using dedicated tools to recommend keyword ideas and inform content creation. Write and create comprehensive email marketing campaigns through engaging newslettersCoordinate translation of content into French and proof French content from external sources. Demonstrate strong project management and time management skillsAnalyze content on key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and gaps and provide recommendations and direction to optimize and scale. Identify website content gaps and make recommendations to optimize pages for improved search results and to inform content creation to increase website trafficMonitor site traffic, and search results and trends to design and write new content and updated initiatives to improve site performanceResearch and gather data to identify trends based on past performance essential for marketing and content planning. Monitor other destinations' content and be informed of travel trends, themes, travel sentimentStay up-to-date with the latest web, SEO, and marketing performance tools, trends, best practices, and strategies Desired Qualifications Post-secondary degree in journalism, communications, English, marketing, advertising or related discipline5 years of experience in content creation for a variety of B2B and B2C audiences across print, web, social media, email marketing, and marketing collateral.
