The Manufacturing Process Specialist will take responsibility for all design of shop processes and assembly activities for Titan Trailers. The ideal candidate is expected to pro-actively identify where processes can be adapted and optimized to ensure cost effectiveness, quality and safety. The successful candidate will also have a unique opportunity to plan and design the work centers within Global Shop ERP to support Titan Trailers costing and scheduling goals. Throughout the product design process, the Manufacturing Process Specialist will verify practices for efficiency and accuracy in order to implement shop processes that are safe and improve quality. The Manufacturing Process Specialist must possess the capabilities to drive the requirements into the development and continuous improvement of products and processes. Specifically, the Manufacturing Process Specialists duties will include developing an in-depth knowledge of our products; strengths and weaknesses of shop processes, equipment, and key personnel who contribute to the quality of the products offered by Titan Trailers.

Job Duties

  • Work center design and maintenance in within Global Shop ERP to support effective scheduling and costing based on BOM/Work Order data.
  • Develop and maintain part routings and standard hours estimates for existing parts/products and new releases.
  • Calculate optimum inventory levels for stock parts.
  • Perform time studies as necessary to establish and maintain work standards for costing and productivity measurement.
  • Creation of Work Instructions for manufacturing or rework activities.
  • Ensuring that all assembly processes operate within lean manufacturing principles (Value Stream Mapping).
  • Work alongside manufacturing teams to identify improvements to existing manufacturing processes + include a cost benefit analysis for evaluation and approval.
  • Conduct work flow analysis and make recommendations for improvement in material handling and shop layout.
  • Initiate Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as related to manufacturing process improvements.
  • Implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) that have effect on manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to create best practices.

Requirements

  • Post secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering / Technologist or similar discipline is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a custom manufacturing environment with multiple product lines.
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing Techniques (Value Stream Mapping).
  • Experience with an ERP system such as Global Shop preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how and why something works.
  • Proven ability to create and execute project plans that have achieved the identified targets.
  • The ability to produce succinct reports/presentations to communicate status of assigned projects/tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate and understand both written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office software packages.
  • A tenacious personality that will not let an issue be left unresolved.
  • Quality Control background including problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
  • High level of personal integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed

Work Conditions

  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Ability to physically implement designs.
  • Overtime as required.
  • May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing.
  • May be required to use PPE.

Regular hours are 6:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 6:00 am to 12 noon on Friday

Training is available for suitable candidates. Must own reliable transportation and hold a valid drivers license

The starting wage for this position is dependent on experience and training. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period the candidate will be eligible to take part in our benefits package, including health, dental, life insurance, Group RRSP and safety boot/clothing allowance.
