What would you be doing?
As a Junior Tax Accountant, you will have the opportunity to work with senior team members on a variety of tax files, assisting clients, and provide support to the tax team.
The successful candidate will assist in preparing tax returns, conducting research, and providing support for our clients' tax needs while gaining valuable experience in a professional accounting environment.
- Assisting with the preparation of various Canadian income tax returns (T1, T2, T3) and tax election forms
- Providing assistance to Partners and Managers on tax planning assignments
- Participate in special tax planning engagements
- Assist in identifying tax-saving opportunities and strategies for clients
- Communicate with clients and government agencies to resolve tax-related inquiries or discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all client tax files and correspondence
- Stay updated on current tax laws, regulations, and industry trends
- Research various tax issues and prepare memoranda/provide accurate and concise summaries
- Liaising with tax authorities on audits, appeals and requests for information
- Assisting with preparing and presenting technical sessions for staff
Who is our ideal candidate?
- Completion of Bachelors Degree in either Business or Law
- Previous experience in a public accounting firm
- Basic knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong research, analytical and problem identifying and solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills with acute attention to detail
- A commitment to learning in a tax environment.
- Experience with Caseware and Taxprep is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of a client-focused environment.
- Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
