Job DescriptionThe Analysis and Reporting Specialist is a technical expert, responsible for designing, building and testing financial reports across a variety of software, as well as contributing to finance-system-related projects and changes as a subject matter expert, technical resource and department liaison.
Financial Systems Support:
- Work closely with Information Systems to define requirements, plan, coordinate, implement and test changes to existing financial systems and integrations.
- Coordinate system upgrades in collaboration with Information Systems, as well as perform routine system maintenance tasks, as required.
- Manage issues with financial systems by submitting support requests to Information Systems, gathering information and coordinating department staff as required to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely and coordinated manner.
- Participate in the planning, procurement and implementation of financial systems as a subject matter expert and project resource, to ensure that new and upgraded systems meet current needs and expectations.
- Recommend, develop and demonstrate innovative solutions to business problems and efficiencies using the resources, tools and software that are currently available.
- Develop requirements documentation, guidelines, procedures and processes, training materials and other resources for staff.
- Develop and facilitate training and orientation on financial systems and controls.
- Manage the year-end close processes for each financial system.
Financial Reporting and System Integrations:
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to design, build and test consistent reports across budgeting and financial software using a variety of tools such as SQL, Power BI and built-in reporting tools.
- Evaluate and communicate the potential impacts of system changes and integrations to financial reports.
- Regularly review existing reports to ensure data integrity when changes are made to financial systems and integrations.
- Regularly review data from each system integration to ensure data accuracy.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Minimum of (3) years' experience configuring and supporting financial systems.
- Significant experience building financial reports and data visualizations.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Familiar with financial systems (Questica, Caseware, Unit4).
- Experienced in data integration using various methods (file-based, API, etc.).
- Skilled in business process analysis, improvement, and requirements gathering.
- Proficient in generating reports with SQL, Power BI, and other tools.
- Able to communicate complex ideas clearly.
- Strong project management skills (certification is a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with public speaking experience.
- Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding customer service and business acumen.
- Capable of troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Knowledgeable in accounting concepts and financial reporting standards.
- High technical aptitude and self-motivation.
- Collaborative team player.
- Effective listener and consultant for user needs.
- Able to provide clear technical information and training.
- Organized and able to manage conflicting demands and deadlines.

This permanent full-time position entails a 35-hour work week. Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 with some overtime as required.
Closing Date: January 16, 2025
Pay rate: $58.96 to $69.36 per hour.
