We are currently looking for a Scheduler, Toxicology to join our growing Kitchener team!

The Scheduler, Toxicology is responsible for reviewing upcoming projects and forecasted production levels in cooperation with senior management. The Scheduler utilizes this information to generate the short-term schedule. The Scheduler is responsible for determining the weekly production requirements based on the long-range schedule in order to produce, review and finalize the weekly schedules.

The weekly schedules will be arranged to ensure that deadlines are met. Consideration must also be given to equipment/machine availability, supplies, staff availability, and instrumentation capacities. The Scheduler assists with approving vacations. This information is used in producing the weekly schedule, keeping in mind those technicians who are absent.

The Scheduler, Toxicology will monitor the progress of projects and update the Project Management Program (SWL-00082) upon project completion. The Scheduler is in communication with the Shift Supervisor(s) of Toxicology regarding the status of projects, training needs, machine problems and special projects.

Daily communication with Product Preparation Manager on the types of products, available start dates for projects, conditioning of tobacco, pulling and re-bagging of product.

Primary responsibilities of the job:

  • Planning and scheduling projects for two shifts (or 3, as applicable) and 2 work week shifts (as applicable), based on the long-range schedule, forecast for long range schedule, weekend schedule (when required), daily updates based on staff absences, repeats, rush projects, machine problems, equipment problems and communicate issues with Executive Management.
  • Co-ordinate with Scientists (Toxicology) and/or General Manager, Toxicology, any method development/research where Toxicology SG/SP/Assay resources are required (smoking machine, instruments, other required equipment, number of samples required, run sheet set up, creation of packages).
  • Daily communication with Production Preparation Supervisor on the types of product, available start dates for projects, conditioning of tobacco, pulling and re-bagging of product and status/changes of packages
  • Communicate with the PMO Project Manager, Toxicology any schedule changes after the release of the weekly schedule to ensure proper coverage.
  • Discuss project progress and schedule repeats as required
  • Enter repeats in the SWL-00082 and LIMS, and schedule according to deadlines while maintaining efficiency within the analyses/assays.
  • Create profiles in SWL-00082 for new projects (number of brands/obs/analytes/matrices, file structure, ensure release of project folders to staff involved) according to released project details; monitor project progress and update SWL-00082 and LIMS to ensure the accuracy of completion dates and upon project completion
  • Worksheet creation for Toxicology projects in LIMS
  • Communicate with the Instrumentation Technologists to schedule regular machine maintenance
  • Attend the Accrual Meeting and provide updates as requested/required
  • Compliance to Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Previous Scheduling/Forecasting background preferred
  • Science background with administrative experience an asset
  • Keep up-to-date with the continual upgrading of the network system
