ABOUT THE ROLE

In 2024 we opened our first North American retail store in Vancouver, BC and we are expanding our retail footprint in 2025. Were looking for an experienced Retail Leader with a strong background in the retail industry to take on our Regional Retail Manager on the North American team. Youll oversee our retail business including permanent retail stores, temporary stores, and pop-ups. You must be able to manage from a distance as you would directly lead a team of Store Managers. This is a great opportunity if youre excited about joining a brand in the early days of its growth and expansion in the North American market.

RESPONSIBILITIESRetail Leadership:

  • Hire and lead Store Managers across North America with current locations in Vancouver, BC and Montreal, QC, and upcoming locations to include US;
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to foster a high-performing and motivated work environment;
  • Develop and own all retail key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales targets, conversion rates, labour cost, and more;
  • Regular travel to domestic and international locations for onsite visits of current and prospective retail opportunities, along with some travel for other business-related activities;
  • Provide performance feedback and conduct employee evaluations with positive and constructive feedback;
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that drives high performance and collaboration;
  • Support retail stores when needed with no task being too small;

Retail Operations:

  • Alongside our Commercial Manager, support the execution of retail programs including our North American pop-up and brick-and-mortar store models for both short-term and long-term leases;
  • Responsible and accountable for all store budgets with regional retail P&L ownership;
  • Analyze financial reports and provide recommendations for improving financial performance;
  • Responsible for forecasting sales and inventory monthly to provide direction to the purchasing department;
  • Create and continuously improve standard operational procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and training materials for retail operations, including new store development and regular store operations
  • Oversee training and development for retail employees including sustainability training and succession planning at all levels;
  • Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities;

Other:

  • Ensure ESG practices are incorporated with dedicated sustainability training for all retail staff and work closely with our Sustainability Manager to ensure best practices are in place at our retail locations;
  • Maintain strong product knowledge of the brand;
  • Ensure company policy and procedures are adhered to;
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of general retail store experience that includes retail leadership and regional operations experience spanning a large geographical scope;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in directly managing Store Managers alongside overseeing store budgets and a regional retail P
  • Undergraduate Degree or related experience;
  • Proven track record of driving sales growth, operational efficiency, and team development;
  • Target-driven, self-motivated, and comfortable working in changing environments;
  • Must be willing to travel often locally and across North America and Internationally;
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, able to lead a team of Managers and Associates from a distance;
  • Deep local knowledge and informed of trends in retail with strong connections in the industry;
  • Passionate about sustainability, bonus if youve worked with other values-aligned brands;
  • Very comfortable with spreadsheets, KPIs, and budgets alongside experience and/or willing to learn G-Suite, Slack, POS systems, Metorik, and CRM software etc.;
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed (considering retail needs);
  • Fluency in English, bonus if you speak other languages;
