Job Title: Junior Industrial Electrician

Job Summary:

The Junior Industrial Electrician will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in an industrial environment. Under the supervision of senior electricians, the Junior Industrial Electrician will ensure that electrical systems are functioning efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation: Assist in the installation of electrical systems, equipment, and wiring according to blueprints, technical specifications, and safety standards.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Help troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems, machinery, and components to ensure reliable operation.
  • Routine Inspections: Perform routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues and ensure they meet safety regulations and standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Work with senior electricians to diagnose electrical faults and assist in repairs or system upgrades.
  • System Testing: Conduct tests on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to ensure functionality, accuracy, and safety.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow and adhere to all company safety guidelines, protocols, and Ontario regulations while working on electrical systems or performing maintenance.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used. Ensure compliance with electrical codes and standards.
  • Equipment Handling: Use and maintain tools, machines, and equipment in accordance with safety and operational guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, such as maintenance personnel, engineers, and supervisors, to ensure the smooth operation of electrical systems within the plant or facility.
  • Learning and Development: Continuously improve electrical knowledge and skills, staying updated on industry best practices and new technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A completed electrical apprenticeship program or enrollment in a recognized electrician training program is preferred.
  • Experience: Some hands-on experience in electrical work is desirable, but not required. Internships, apprenticeships, or previous roles in electrical maintenance are a plus.
  • Certifications: Electrical certification (if required by local law). Basic understanding of electrical safety codes and practices.
  • Skills:
    • Basic understanding of electrical systems and their components.
    • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in electrical work.
    • Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical codes.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
    • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: Some practical experience working with electrical systems in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Additional Skills: Knowledge of PLC systems, motor control circuits, and industrial automation is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools, as well as work in confined spaces or at heights.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Work will be performed in an industrial setting, including exposure to machinery, electrical equipment.
  • Physical Demands: The role involves standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting heavy objects. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
