Our client, a market leader in the building materials industry, is looking for a Supply Chain Manager in the GTA. This position is a critical leader responsible for ensuring the seamless management of raw materials, inventory, and supply chain processes to support efficient and uninterrupted production across all departments. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive improvements in material forecasting, streamline workflows, and uphold lean principles to meet the companys fast-paced, high-demand environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and a strong communicator, with a passion for optimizing material management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Material Planning and Forecasting:
- Analyze customer demand and production schedules to accurately forecast material requirements.
- Collaborate with production coordinators and schedulers to ensure timely procurement and availability of materials.
- Monitor and respond to trends, ensuring the lamination departments needs align with extrusion and customer demand.
2. Inventory Management:
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to minimize stockouts and overstocking.
- Implement and oversee inventory tracking systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility of data.
- Regularly conduct audits and resolve discrepancies promptly.
3. Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
- Negotiate contracts and terms to secure cost-effective and reliable supply sources.
- Evaluate supplier performance and explore opportunities for new partnerships.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the materials team to perform at their best.
- Establish clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback and support.
- Collaborate with HR to recruit and train team members as needed to address staffing gaps.
5. Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline material handling and procurement processes.
- Foster a lean culture by eliminating waste and improving workflows across departments.
- Proactively address bottlenecks and challenges, driving continuous improvement.
6. Communication and Collaboration:
- Act as the primary liaison between production, inventory, and customer service teams.
- Provide timely updates to management on material status, risks, and performance metrics.
- Ensure effective communication across all shifts to avoid misunderstandings and delays.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Reduction in material stockouts and delays.
- Improvement in inventory accuracy.
- Cost savings achieved through supplier negotiations and waste reduction.
- Timely and accurate forecasting of material needs.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in material management, inventory control, or supply chain roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
