As our new Lead Hand, you will be responsible for project execution, assistant leadership, quality workmanship and short-term planning.
If you were working for us, here are some of the things you would have done last week:
- Assist Crew Leader with periodic supervision, delegation, coordination, and execution of day to day work activities of a small crew of 2-3 people
- Assist Crew Leader in the management of safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard
- Operation of chainsaw winch, drills, and floating devices
- Assist crew with the following tasks:
- Install and remove aluminum pipe, floating and tower dock systems
- Install boat lifts and marine rail systems
- Perform service work as required, adjusting dock heights or alignment
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required for installations
- Transport materials with dollies, floating devices, and hand-lifting/carrying
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
- Read and interpret installation manuals, site layout drawings, and contract specifications to perform work activities
- Periodically complete and submit required paperwork or electronic logs on a daily basis as required, including daily site meetings, planning reports, attendance/time keeping
- Complete and submit daily planning to coordinate completion of project goals, prepare for project tasks and identify project needs & obstacles
- Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas
Success in this role will be about so much more than just quality dock service work completed efficiently. Just as importantly, it will be about making our customers happy by bringing their visions to life while contributing to our teams growth and people-focused culture through taking the lead on smaller projects while supporting Crew Leader in leadership.

The Details
This is a full-time, seasonal job, working at job sites across the Bruce Peninsula, from Tobermory to Lions Head, Wiarton, Port Elgin, Sauble Beach, Georgian Bluffs, Meaford, and Markdale. Outside of the Dock Service season, there are opportunities to join our Snow department.

Qualifications
We are considering candidates from a wide range of experiences and backgrounds. Ideally, heres what were looking for:
- Great communicator, detail oriented, organized, and can lead others
- Embrace meeting deadlines, working smart in strenuous conditions
- Mechanically minded and enjoy assembling
- Comfortable operating power tools and equipment
- You're prepared to work in waves, wind, cold and deep water (dry-suits provided!)
- Youre prepared to work on difficult shoreline access, steep embankments
- Comfortable using a smartphone for communication and reporting
