Job Scope

Reporting to the Shop Foreman and dotted line to the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, the Trailer Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper functionality of our units on the road. By inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing trailer components.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform effective preventative maintenance services on heavy duty trailers.
  • Perform Trailer inspections and diagnosis in addition to CRY Sheet submissions.
  • Interpreting work orders and technical manuals
  • Mentor, develop, and support apprentices for future growth and development.
  • Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturers procedures and in safe and responsible manner.
  • Maintain open communication with the Shop Foreman, Shop staff, Truck Drivers, and Dispatch if required.
  • Maintain Parts Room etiquette to maintain functionality
  • Assist in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting mechanical, and electrical failures
  • Complete required high-quality documentation using Software and computer systems, such as service work orders.
  • Maintain a clean and functional work environment, toolbox maintenance, work area cleanliness.
  • Always maintain a Safety Mindset and contribute to a Positive Workplace Culture.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum level 1 Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
  • Product and technical knowledge with knowledge of highway transport vehicles.
  • Active CVIP License is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the medium/heavy duty truck industry is required.
  • Functional computer operation and administration is required
  • Class 1 License is considered an asset
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and punctual

  • Severe weather exposure such as extreme cold or heat.
  • Exposure and ability to deal with large volumes of work and stressful situations
