We're Hiring!

We are now accepting applications for Awake Overnight Youth Workers to provide support, supervision and nurturing to children and youth living in our staffed resources located in Kelowna BC.

Hours / Schedule:

  • Full-Time, Permanent
  • 40-hours /week.
  • All shifts are 10-hours long.
  • Applicants should be prepared to work a predictable rotating schedule on a 3-days on / 3-days off rotation, with one 2-day on, 2-day off rotation within the 28-day cycle.

Responsibilities:

The Overnight Youth Worker will:

  • Work successfully as part of a collaborative case management team.
  • Provide care and emotional nurturing, as well as skilled intervention and supervision of the children and youth living in the home.
  • Cooperate with the staff team to monitor youth behaviours.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment.
  • Be responsible for food preparation, housekeeping duties, and maintenance of the house.

Preferred Education and Experience:

A degree, diploma or certificate in one of the following disciplines is preferred:

  • Social Work
  • Human Service Worker
  • Child & Youth Care
  • Community Support Worker,
  • Health Care Aide

To be successful in your role you'll also need:

  • Experience working with high-risk children and youth, ideally in a group care setting.
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities including autism.
  • Experience supporting youth and children who have complex needs and behaviours.

Other Requirements:

Given the nature of our work, please note that all shortlisted candidates:

  • Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Must undergo a screening process, including MCFD-HUB Centralized Screening / Prior Contact checks.

Please be aware that the screening process for this position often results in significant delays for applicants who are currently living, or who have previously lived in Alberta, Ontario or internationally.

Wage / Benefits:

$27.85 - $29.15 per hour based on relevant experience and education.

Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions; as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards!
