Are you ready for a new and exciting challenge? The Creative Team at Capital Sports is looking for a Motion Graphics Designer to take on a dynamic role focused on producing world-class creative. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of visual storytelling for our brands and partnerships, creating motion designs (and the occasional static graphic) for a wide range of channels. Your work will reach a broad audience, including fans of the Ottawa Senators, Ottawa Black Bears, and visitors to Canadian Tire Centre.

The ideal candidate will combine design expertise with a collaborative mindset and a passion for transforming ideas into captivating visuals, all within a fast pace high intensity environment. With a focus on innovation within our brand standards, you will work closely with leaders and specialists across the organization to create assets that not only represent our brand but also inspire our community through visually compelling designs.

Reports to the Creative Director

Main Responsibilities

  • Embrace creative and design direction to bring ideas/briefs to life for campaigns, in-game assets, and various partner initiatives.
  • Design and animate motion graphics (and on occasion static graphics when necessary) for use across all channels of the business including digital, social media, in-arena, and advertising channels. These graphics could be used for short-form videos, promotional content, intros/outros, and transitions that captivate viewers and drive engagement.
  • Edit videos and social content for all touchpoints of the business.
  • Create and maintain a look and feel through all projects, guided by the brand position and seasonal design strategy.
  • Collaborate with teams such as Game Presentation and Social team to develop the best creative possible for each channel. Adapt and format static and motion graphics for these various channels, ensuring best quality, size, and performance.
  • Conceptualize, collaborate and execute compelling motion designs from a variety of briefs, including some designs from a blank canvas and others as a part of multi-disciplinary creative execution.
  • Develop A/B Creative for testing and workshopping when required.
  • Stay informed about the latest motion graphics trends, tools, and technologies to ensure Capital Sports visuals stay fresh, engaging, and aligned with the current brand aesthetics and visual direction.
  • Oversee the design and animation processes from concept through execution, coordinating with team members to consistently meet project deadlines and deliver exceptional quality.
  • Actively take part in ideation sessions to develop new concepts for both static and motion-based content, contributing to our brands visual identity and innovation.

Job Requirements

  • Expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects) with an interest in other design tools (e.g., 3D software such as Cinema 4D or collaborative design tools such as Figma)
  • Ability to create and understand diverse styles and visual formats.
  • Strong sense of aesthetics and creativity, with the ability to translate your own and others' ideas into visually compelling designs that resonate with our audiences.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and keeping high standards.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a team-oriented mindset. This includes the ability to receive feedback and implement changes in a professional manner, even when you may not be sure of the results.
  • University or college degree in animation, video production, or relevant experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a motion graphic designer in a professional setting.
  • The details matter to you. Ensuring your work is built to a high standard and is on brief.
  • Bilingual (English & French) is a strong asset.
  • Understanding photography and videography production and capture is an asset.
  • Functional experience working in the Sports & Entertainment or Hospitality industries is an asset
