POSITION SUMMARY

The Packer is responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly packed, labeled, and prepared for shipment in a way that maximizes safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role plays a key part in maintaining high DIFOT (Delivery In Full, On Time) scores by overseeing the packing process, following proper material handling techniques, and ensuring that all work orders are accurately closed out in a timely manner. The Packer will work closely with the Logistics and Quality control teams to prevent non-conformances, mitigate shipping damage, and continuously improve packing processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Package cabinets, countertops and steel products on skids.
  • Maintain and contribute to a high DIFOT score through accurate and efficient packing processes.
  • Ensure every skid is properly marked, and all materials are labeled clearly for identification and tracking during shipment.
  • Work closely with the logistics and quality teams to meet or exceed customer expectations regarding delivery timelines and product condition.
  • Perform quality checks on products to ensure they meet specifications before packing. Participate in peer quality checks.
  • Accurately close out all work orders for completed locations in Seradex and follow up on any outstanding orders.
  • Understand the properties of materials and the best methods to protect them during shipping.
  • Apply proper material strapping and loading techniques to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Ensure proper material labeling and skid marking to facilitate smooth shipment tracking.
  • Maintain and operate equipment, including forklifts, with the proper certifications.
  • Understand how materials are shipped in trucks and transfer zones to optimize packing and loading procedures.
  • Identify and address potential non-conformances in packing processes, ensuring all shipments are packed to the highest standards to avoid shipping damage.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance packing efficiency and minimize damage risks.
  • Adhere to Archmills Safety & PPE policies at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in logistics, packing, or material handling.
  • Ability to read Blueprint/AutoCAD drawings.
  • Forklift certification and proven ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with packing processes in Seradex or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality checks on products and processes.
  • Knowledge of shipping processes and how materials are loaded, strapped, and transported.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • This role will require standing, lifting, and moving materials for extended periods.
  • Work is performed in a warehouse and shipping environment with exposure to various temperatures and conditions.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Full-time Hours: 7:00 am to 3:45 pm Monday-Friday.
  • Required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Will be required to work in a production environment with loud noises.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
