Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the inspection, installation, repair, adjustment, construction, modification, calibration, programming and wiring of electrical and electronic apparatus, devices, and circuits of any voltages in the mill or assigned area. The technician will also be responsible for the service of all types of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical equipment and any integrating and graphical control, as well as electronic or mechanical instruments.

You'll Do:

  • Safety - Promotes, adheres to, and contributes to plant safety programs and ensures compliance with best maintenance practices;
  • Safely operates and tests energized electrical systems;
  • Under little supervision, performs a variety of tasks involved in the provision of E&I services, internal customer service and reporting;
  • Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations;
  • Installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, switchgear, transformers, reactors, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components;
  • Use required equipment, including hand tools, calibrators, and electrical test equipment, including multi-meters to test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance;
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, calibrates, tests and installs electrical motors, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems and other related devices, including but not limited to pressure, flow, temperature and safety monitoring devices;
  • Conducts preventive maintenance and keeps maintenance records;
  • Evaluates processes for improved quality, cost-effectiveness and potential growth.

You have:

  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Electrician certification;
  • Valid Driver's License;
  • Strong computer proficiency required, namely the ability to operate a variety of electronic and microcomputer instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, and level;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability for shift work including days, nights and/or week-ends;
  • Ability to work at heights;
  • A positive attitude, ability to work safely, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, and willingness to learn

Compensation Package:

  • The hourly pay rate for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location.
