Welder Atlantic Road Construction & Paving

Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in mass excavation, drilling & blasting, pipe & underground utility placement, concrete placement and asphalt paving. We are currently looking to hire an experiencedWelderto join our growing team. Reporting to the Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic, the successful candidate will be responsible for repairing a wide variety of equipment used in heavy civil construction. Based in our yard in Dartmouth, the successful candidate will be required to travel to various jobsites in HRM, welding materials as required by the Foreman, as well as working in our asphalt plant as needed.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years in Heavy-Duty Mechanics and/or Welding and Steel Fabrication experience.
• Experience repairing heavy equipment used in construction.
• Proficiency in welding and electrical skill set.
• Good manual dexterity, versatility of skills, and capable of performing heavy lifting and heavy work.
• Valid Class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract, trailer endorsement (condition 15) considered an asset.
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to manage many tasks.
• Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be comfortable working outside in most types of weather.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.
• Track and prioritize equipment in need of repair.
• Communicate with the heavy equipment maintenance team on daily operations.
• Arrive to site on time and ready to work.
• Evening and weekend work required from time to time to perform repairs to equipment being actively used on site.
