LEAs Building Structures Practice Area specializes in the design of structural buildings, including commercial, institutional, transit stations and residential projects.We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about structural engineering and thrive in a consulting environment. Your day-to-day work will include working with Engineers and Designers on solving problems and creating new designs. In this role, your duties and responsibilitieswill include:

  • Develop structural engineering designs for (Institutional, Commercial and Residential) projects, from concept through to construction completion.
  • Liaise with other departments and sub-consultants in coordinating technical aspects of the work under the direction of an Engineer.
  • Assist with the assembly of contract documents including structural engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Execute construction review of structures to ensure general conformance with the contract documents.
  • Attend meetings with clients and other consultants, effectively coordinating and communicating structural intent.
  • Assist in-field inspection of existing structures and compiling inspection reports.
  • Coordinate within the design team and assist Project Managers with schedules and day-to-day project management tasks.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends.
  • Commit to a high standard of work and ensure quality control reviews are completed for every project.
  • Other exciting related duties and responsibilities within the scope of the Building Structures Practice Area.

The qualifications you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Civil/Structural.
  • Interested to be a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng. designation) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.
  • Understanding of the Ontario Building Code and reference material design standards
  • Knowledge of one or more of the Structural Analysis software (such as ETABS, SAP, and SAFE; working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, or MicroStation is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strategic and process-oriented, prefers to operate in a fast and dynamic environment.
  • Team player and able to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Able to prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented and commendable problem-solving skills.

The work arrangement:

LEA operates in a hybrid environment to ensure flexibility, safety, and the well-being of everyone. Periodic attendance at our Toronto office is expected to facilitate in-person learning of new tasks with experienced senior staff.
