What You'll Do:
- Steward the delivery of West Fraser's Science Based Targets for GHG emissions reductions.
- Lead a cross-functional Carbon reduction network to build a culture of Carbon & Energy efficiency, focusing on identifying, prioritizing, and implementing reduction opportunities across all emissions scopes.
- Develop a portfolio approach to carbon management, including roadmaps, strategies, systems, and tools in collaboration with internal resources for:
- Energy and project management resources in the evaluation, prioritization, tracking, and execution of Carbon & Energy reduction initiatives and projects.
- Identification, review, and development of new and innovative emissions reduction opportunities.
- Evaluation and optimization of the use of carbon credits, including oversight and coordination of regional carbon trading and offset programs, and renewable power purchase agreements to reduce Scope 2 emissions.
- Develop and deploy information management systems to track West Fraser's climate and GHG reduction initiatives, including forecasting and progress reporting tools for executive, operational, and external audiences.
- Guide operations and internal financial resources in the application of internal carbon pricing and carbon cost assessment tools.
- Ensure the effectiveness of internal carbon reduction strategies through forecasting and the development of audit processes and tools.
- Support the development of a corporate ESG strategy complete with vision, goals, targets, and measures to track progress.
- Work with internal communications resources to develop and deploy tools for information and best practice sharing.

- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in climate strategy, carbon management, or a related field.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing ESG strategies and GHG emissions reduction initiatives.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across dispersed operational teams.
- Experience with carbon pricing, carbon credits, and renewable power purchase agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage regulatory and policy requirements and translate them into operational improvements.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.

What We Offer:
- Competitive salary and annual bonus opportunities. The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location. The typical yearly salary range is between $132,500 and $157,400.
