As the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), you will be a key player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through daily troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies. The position will work up to a shift millwright, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment and maintain uptime in the facilities during production shifts.
You'll Do:
- Work safely using established SOPs, using all appropriate PPE, following all lockouts and established policies / procedures, and completing FLHRA's (Field Level Hazard Risk Assessment).
- Preventative maintenance and repair of conveyors, various belt and chain transfer and drive systems, sawing, debarking, sorting, stacking, and compressors. Maintenance of pumps, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings, and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process.
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.
- Work in man-lifts with the use of fall protection equipment.
- Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders
- Work positively in a team environment.
- Undertake preventative maintenance program for equipment
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to repair equipment.
- Inspect and examine machinery, equipment, and repair as required.
- Verify and document repairs made
- Use knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings
You have:
- A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright Certification
- Ability to read blueprints, plans and schematics
- Mechanical aptitude; excellent problem-solving skills
- Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Organizational and planning skills
- Flexible schedule to workday, evening, weekend and graveyard shifts
Considered a strong asset:
- Previous experience working in a sawmill or planer mill
- A Red Seal Certificate
- A Welding Certificate
- Knowledge of hydraulics
