The Junior Buyer is responsible for daily purchasing efforts to efficiently and effectively enable efficient business.
Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Sourcing: Responsible for specific aspects of sourcing operations.
· Procurement: Implement organizational procurement strategy and plans determined by Purchasing Manager or Operations Manager.
· Supply Management: Assist in tasks associated with global supply chain functions through strategy, resource optimization, profitability maximation, and KPIs resulting in the maximization of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
·Build relationships with vendors to ensure we receive competitive pricing, quality products and on time deliveries.
· Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure.
· Assist in certain aspects of the company supply chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost.
· Maintain and report on benchmarks and metrics including a routine scorecard to set baseline standards and review for improvement opportunities.
· Implement/Execute correct inventory planning settings and forecasting reports from Management to ensure proper inventory rotation and maximize working capital.
· Perform maintenance activities on MRP system to ensure accurate part numbers, pricing, quantity, location etc.
· Execute POs and manage deliveries for domestic raw materials and MRO items to support production schedules.
· Track/monitor/communicate updates on drop shipped PO's.
· Solicit freight quotes and new price quotes/programs for key drop ship items.
· Assist coordination of OEM repairs/parts for shop equipment & forklifts.
· Collaborate daily with Production Planning & Production Leadership to keep all departments apprised of shortages, arrivals of large deliveries and outsourcing activities.
· Reconcile invoice discrepancies as they pertain to PO's or overall costing questions.
· Collaborate with Engineering and Sales on new projects and setup item #'s and their proper settings.
Competencies and Necessary Attributes:
· Strong project ownership and accountability - managing voice of customer and requirement setting for a successful product.
· 2+ years experience working within a supply chain role.
· Previous work experience in steel manufacturing/sourcing preferred.
· Demonstrated ability for independent thinking and multi-tasking. Proven ability to plan pro- actively, anticipate issues and have excellent problem resolution with little or no input or assistance. Excellent follow-through. Strong attention to detail with proven ability to work in a deadline-intensive environment.
· Great communicator (oral & written) with an ability to tailor style to appropriately match audience; exudes professionalism and ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
· Proficiency in computer applications Microsoft, Great Plains, Office applications a plus.
· Exceptional ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally cutting through ambiguity and driving to solutions.
