Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of Civil Engineering Design and Documents
- Lead and participate in a wide variety of water resources projects from planning and conceptual design through detailed design, implementation and operational support
- Flood management studies
- Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and modelling
- Design of drainage, erosion control and storm water management systems
- When required, coordinate/review/assist field staff with site investigations, general reviews of construction, and preparation of field review reports
- Work work collaboratively across offices and disciplines from preliminary stages of the design through to completion
- Supporting the design of natural and engineered channels
- Collect, compile, manage and assess hydrology, hydraulic, climate, and geomorphological data
- Oversee the design and implementation of civil and water resource engineering projects, including stormwater management, flood mitigation, water and wastewater systems, roadway infrastructure, subwater shed plans, and stream or natural channel restoration.
- Prepare, review and support technical reports for construction documents (plans, cost estimates and specifications)
- Develop and maintain client relationships, both as part of project execution and business development activities
- Lead the preparation of proposals, budgets, and schedules
- Cost estimates and cost comparison of technical solutions
Skills / Qualifications:
- University Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer or a relevant L.E.T. with the Professional Engineers of Ontario required
- 5+ years of experience in water resources engineering, specifically related to the assessment, design, permitting and construction of water resources infrastructure projects
- Experience with Provincial and local Municipality design guidelines, the Ontario Building Code, and other applicable Canadian Engineering standards
- Sound understanding of water and environmental related principles and engineering concepts, including hydraulics and hydrology
- Relevant experience with stormwater management design and flow modelling software (MIDUSS, EPA SWM, Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-RAS, etc.) considered an asset
- Experience with Low Impact Development (LID) techniques and implementation considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
- Proficiency in AutoCAD suites considered an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision and in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
- Possess a valid Class G driver's license and a clean driving record
