Transit Driver - Casual Position

PWTransit is currently seeking a career-oriented Casual Transit Driver to join our team in Terrace. This role has the potential to transition into a part-time permanent position. Drivers are responsible for safely transporting passengers on a daily basis and must be committed to providing superior customer service. Commitment, patience, maturity, and initiative are all required qualities.

Wage: $27.15 to $28.50 per hour

Position Requirements

• A valid Class 1 or 2 driver's license with airbrake endorsement
• Driver's abstract with no more than 3 demerit points
• Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol screening
• Clear criminal record
• Must be organized, punctual and reliable
• Possess excellent driving skills and habits
• Ability to read maps and navigate
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Significant skills dealing effectively with the public, including demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and sound decision-making in positions providing customer service
• Willing to work shifts, including split shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as necessary (transit service may operate 6 days per week, 17 hours per day)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely transport passengers on a number of assigned routes
• Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving problems
• Drive safely and responsibly and be prepared for all road and traffic conditions
• Provide superior customer service and assist with passenger questions/inquiries
• Completes a variety of vehicle and incident reports as required
• Carries out emergency/accident procedures when required
