LEA is hiring a Stormwater Management Engineer, to join our Civil Practice Area. The successful applicant will participate in a variety of projects related to stormwater management/water resources for various clients, including municipalities, Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and private sector. The Civil Practice Area offers opportunities to work in a variety of Civil sectors, including Municipal, MTO, Land Development and Transit. Duties and Responsibilities
- Take the lead on specific hydrology and hydraulics aspects of various projects and interact with internal teams.
- Act as an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer assuming responsibility for the group's work with the support of Senior Engineers and Sector Managers.
- Conduct field investigations (Drivers license and ability to travel is required)
- Undertake preliminary and detailed design of storm drainage systems including minor and major systems (ditches, culverts, and storm sewer systems)
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic design of bridges and culverts, and conduct floodplain mapping assessment and floodline delineation.
- Conduct climate change impact studies in support of various types of projects.
- Develop stormwater management strategy for Highways, Road Widening, Land Development and Transit projects, including stormwater quality, quantity control and water balance.
- Design Stormwater Management Facilities and LID measures.
- Support large-scale municipal studies, such as subwatershed studies (SWS) and Master Environmental Servicing Plans (MESPs)
- Prepare presentation materials related to Stormwater Management component for meetings with various Clients.
- Prepare Stormwater Management Reports for Municipal, Land Development and Major Transit projects.
- Produce Drainage and Hydrology Reports for Highways, Culvert Inspection Reports, and Drainage Assessment Memos.
- Prepare technical reports, memorandums and drawings.
- Mentor, coordinate, and direct junior designers and technical support staff.
- Ensures that the design complies with all applicable design standards and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of various proposals and technical reports or presentations.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends, software, and technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Water Resources Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in water resources engineering/stormwater management
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng. designation) with Professional Engineers Ontario or eligibility to obtain it in the near future
- RAQS certification for Drainage and Hydrology for highways is considered an asset
- Strong hydrologic and hydraulic modelling skills and proficiency with the following modelling tools: HEC-RAS, Visual OTTHYMO, Culvert Master, HY-8, InfoWorks, PCSWMM
- Experience with ArcGIS: spatial analysis, delineate drainage mosaics, use open-source data and produce various maps
- Good understanding of Conservation Areas jurisdiction and applicable design criteria.
- Strategic and process-oriented, prefers to operate in a fast and dynamic environment.
- Team player and able to work independently with little oversight.
- Able to prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and commendable problem-solving skills.
