The Senior Manager of Corporate Business Development and Strategy will be responsible for driving the growth of the company, with an immediate focus on project financing and leading special projects across technical business areas of the company. This role will lead capital raising activities, particularly the establishment of a capital/debt facility for customer electrification projects, involving both public and private sector financing as well as partnerships with Indigenous Groups. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the energy industry, combining technical expertise with business acumen. A comprehensive understanding of strategic planning, market analysis, and partnership development will also be critical for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead capital raising efforts, with a near-term focus on establishing a capital/debt facility to support electrification projects; once established, manage facility's financing operations, including performance monitoring, compliance, and stakeholder communication

  • Build and manage relationships with financial institutions, investors, and key stakeholders to secure optimal financing terms and develop diversified partnerships, including with Indigenous Groups

  • Develop and implement customer-facing financing solutions, including internal processes such as credit assessment, business models, sales materials, and financial modeling activities.

  • Adapt to dynamic business needs by applying technical or engineering expertise in the energy industry across areas such as Asset Management, Energy Markets, Project Management, New Technology Implementation, or Customer Proposal Development, taking on strategic in-house consulting responsibilities as required to establish and refine internal strategies or processes.

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Monitor industry trends to identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities, including strategic partnerships to enhance market reach and drive revenue growth. Lead due diligence processes, negotiate terms, and manage transactions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative business models and pricing strategies.

  • Support sales enablement by providing strategic insights and developing tools to enhance sales effectiveness.

  • Perform financial modeling to support new deals, project financing activities, customer financing programs, and the development of new business models.

  • Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance management frameworks to track and report on the success of corporate initiatives.

  • Identify, develop and manage high performance talent / Direct Reports.

  • Support other tasks across the company as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or related field. CFA / MBA or equivalent designations are an asset.

  • 7+ years of experience in corporate development, project financing, or M&A, combined with technical expertise in the electricity or energy transition industry is essential.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed financial modelling.

  • Excellent negotiation and deal-structuring skills, with a deep understanding of commercial contracts.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
