For over 35 years, Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton has been dedicated to offering high-quality programs for young children and their families. We operate full-day early learning and childcare centres for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, along with before and after school extended-day programs for kindergarten and school-aged children at over 27 locations across the Greater Hamilton Area.

Location: Viola Desmond Elementary School, 50 Secord Dr, Hamilton, ON L8K 3W7
Total Weekly Hours: 27.75 hours/week
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00AM-9:00AM and 2:45PM-6:00PM
Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants):
- RECE: $27.72/hr
- Non-RECE: $25.18/hr

Who We're Looking ForQualifications:
- Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children or in a childcare setting.
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or equivalent (e.g., Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Recreation & Leisure diploma).
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
- Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? (an asset)
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Plan and implement activities to support children's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Maintain an engaging and welcoming environment for children and families.
- Complete documentation and meet Ministry of Education requirements.
- Collaborate with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty.
