Position Summary

Department: Information Technology (IT)
The IT Supervisor acts as the technical support team lead and oversees IT operations, reporting to the Information Systems Manager. The IT Supervisor prioritizes IT staff workloads and provides guidance and coaching. The incumbent will support Tlaamin Nations IT infrastructure, systems and networks and provide support to staff experiencing IT difficulties as well as supporting the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tlaamin Nation policies, standards, practices and procedures as directed by the Information Systems Manager. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to members, clients, employees and general matters of the Nation.
- Day-to-day supervision and support of technical staff including scheduling, prioritization, attendance management, overtime and training request approvals, scheduling of vacation, and other time off.
- Actively manages technical support ticketing system to ensure requests are resolved on a timely basis.
- Top level escalation contact for technical support requests and responds in a timely manner.
- Oversee various aspects of IT infrastructure, including deployment, maintenance and administration of various hardware, networks, systems, and applications.
- Support the IS Manager to implement IT strategies and initiatives to support the organization's goals and objectives.
- Support digital transformation projects by identifying and delivering innovative technology solutions that meet business needs for today and tomorrow.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify technological needs and develop and deploy solutions to support business operations and improve workflows, efficiency and productivity.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships throughout the organization that lead to a thorough understanding of current and emerging business opportunities facilitated using technology.
- Support the IS Manager to ensure the security and integrity of our technology systems and data.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the organization.
- IS Manager relief when unavailable.
Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Post-Secondary Degree in IT or other technical field, with 3-5 years experience working in IT field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
- Acceptable Police Information Check.
- Valid B.C. Drivers License with acceptable driver's abstract.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Team player with skills in relationship building, team building and conflict resolution.
- Good interpersonal communication skills, good writing skills and an ability to simplify technical support jargon for end users.
- Ability to plan, prioritize tasks, assign, supervise and follow up with technical staff engaged in support service delivery and related activities.
- Ability to investigate, assess, and resolve problems of a technical nature.
- Ability to analyze implications of proposed changes in an IT environment.
- Extensive experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Experience working with and strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Windows Server environments, including virtualization technologies, and cloud based Microsoft365 services.
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting computer networks and network devices, including firewalls, VLANs, VPNs and wireless networks.
- Broad understanding of various aspects of computer and network security, security solutions, and cyber security best practices.
- Experience deploying, managing and monitoring backup solutions for critical workloads, risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Experience with ArcGIS enterprise an asset.
- Experience with SQL, python or scripting an asset.
- Experience cabling (Cat5e) an asset.
- Knowledge and understanding of First Nations history and culture, or working with Indigenous organizations an asset.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a variety of office and community settings. Evening and weekend work may be required to minimize disruption and downtime when performing maintenance and upgrades, and when supporting events.
- Occasional travel to attend meetings or training is required.
