Position Summary:
The incumbent will provide a range of child and family services to the children, youth, young adults, families, and community members of Sandy Bay First Nation. Incumbent will work closely with CFS Supervisor(s) and CFS Worker(s) within Sandy Bay Child and Family Services Inc.
Some Duties include:
- Responds to all service/referral requests the same day or by the end of the following working day.
- In consultation with the appropriate supervisor, responds immediately and acts as a support to direct service worker.
- Records particulars of service request fully documenting contact on intake forms/files and provides to CFS Supervisor, where applicable.
- Can clearly assess case information and identify services area (i.e., family service, brief service, minor parent, abuse).
- Assists CFS Worker in arranging/coordinating visits between client/family as required.
- Escort client/family in special circumstances, as requested (i.e., medical dental/counselling appointments, client/family visits, on-call emergency, court-related issues).
- Documents all home visits, phone contacts, and correspondence regarding client for case files and electronic entry.
- Refers client to appropriate resources, by phone contact or letter or documents on file.
- Records client information on file recording within one week of contact date.
- Assists with electronic data entry/tracking as needed (i.e., CFSIS)
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12, GED, or equivalent. Certificates/Diplomas/Degrees in related fields is an asset.
- Minimum two-years of related work experience working in a child welfare setting and/or a related field of study.
- Must have a valid Manitoba Drivers License, access to a vehicle and willing to travel. Will provide a current Drivers Abstract.
- Must pass Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and Child Abuse Registry Checks
- Ability to speak and/or understand the Ojibway language would be an asset.
- Knowledge and respect of First Nations traditional culture and traditional philosophy.
