The Role
Our client is a specialized logistics/transportation service provider that focuses on value creation for companies with complex supply chains. They provide best-in-class transportation in Canada, the USA and worldwide by truck, rail, ocean and air. They were designed from the ground up to address persistent issues in the supply chain and provide nimble, consistent and reliable solutions. The Business Development Representative's primary objective is to identify and secure new business opportunities for the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential business opportunities and stay updated on industry trends.
- Generate and qualify leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, and referrals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique logistics and transportation needs.
- Present and promote the companys specialized logistics and transportation services to prospective clients.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored solutions for complex supply chain challenges.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure new business partnerships.
- Track and report sales activities, pipeline progress, and results using CRM tools.
- Participate in weekly sales meetings to discuss challenges, share updates, and strategize in person.
- Stay informed about the companys offerings, ensuring alignment with client requirements and market demands.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to expand market presence.
Requirements
- A Customer Service oriented "people person" who has an ambitious attitude
- Minimum of 1 year in warehousing sales or a similar role with a transportation company is required.
- Strong phone presence with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to be self-motivated and multi-task, and trainable/willing to learn
- Must have ways of thinking outside of the box and improve the quality of service to customers
