West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our High Prairie Forest Products division in Alberta is recruiting for a Millwright.

As the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), you will be a key player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through daily troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies.

You'll Do:

  • Work safely using established SOPs, following all lockouts and protocols, and completing PTHAs.
  • Preventative maintenance and repair of conveyors, various belt and chain transfer and drive systems, sawing, debarking, sorting, stacking, and compressors.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.
  • Work in man-lifts with the use of fall protection equipment.
  • Repair and maintenance of hydraulic systems, pumps, valves and cylinders.
  • Work positively in a team environment.

You have:

  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace.
  • Sawmill experience is an asset.
  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification or a Millwrighting Apprentice preparing to enroll in their 4th year.
  • Mechanical aptitude; excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work closely with other trades and employees.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible schedule for workdays, nights, and weekend shifts.

Compensation Package:

  • The hourly pay rate for this position is $49.18 for a certified Journeyperson and $43.59 for a certified 4th-year apprentice.
  • West Fraser will provide a 4th-year apprentice with the hours and schooling required to reach certified Journeyperson
  • Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays.
  • Relocation package available to a qualified, successful candidate.
