Job Summary: as a key member of the Financial Planning and Analysis team, the analyst will be responsible for preparing, analyzing and presenting budgets and forecasts to upper management. In addition, the analyst will be expected to review monthly financial information, summarizing risks and opportunities and assessing the overall reasonableness of results.
Required Education and Experience:
- University/ Community College in Accounting or Business Administration is an asset
- 2 - 3 year experience in financial planning and analysis
- Experience with computerized accounting systems is required
- Highly competent in the use of the MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Self-confidence, critical thinking, ability to influence, ability to work independently and willingness to work extended hours (if necessary)
- Strong organizational skills, procedural knowledge and time management skills
- Working knowledge of AS400 and/or CMS is an asset
Essential Functions:
- Compile, review and present company forecast to management.
- Compare monthly budgets and forecasts with actual results.
- Analyze results and variances; identifying trends; recommending actions.
- Audit & review monthly financial information to ensure reasonability.
- Review and summarize capital requests, including assessing the overall business case of capital purchases.
- Analyze opportunities and build models to support business decisions.
- Plan, coordinate and execute various ad hoc queries and reports used by all management levels in development of key strategy and operational decision making.
- Assist Controller or designee in month end close of AP Module, run necessary reports, prepare manual accruals with proper backup documentation and help identifying & explaining any reconciling items between AP GL to Sub ledger
- Prepare treasury forecasts of expenditures
- File and maintain all documents as per statutory requirements/company policy
- Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies and Martinrea employee handbook
Working Environment:
- Both office setting and production environment
- 90% office, 10% plant floor (PPE required)
- Flexible hours as required
Physical Demands:
- Constant communication with employees, peers, and management, suppliers and customers
- Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
- Physical activity is very minimum
- Ability to travel outside of Canada as necessary
