As a Justice Services Case Manager, you'll work with clients to address the underlying issues that led to contact with the justice system, to provide counselling that builds on their strengths, and helps them make steps towards recovery with an aim to improve their quality of life, reduce harm, and prevent future interactions with the justice system. You'll also be responsible for attending court and communicating with justice partners regarding progress and to advocate for the best interests of your clients.

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) completed within the last six months. In order to avoid delays in beginning a position, interested applicants who are in need of a PVSC are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

• What you'll be making - Starting rate for this role is $26.74 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($29.57 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
  • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
  • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($33.90 per hour for non-regulated, and $36.71 per hour for regulated)
  • For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
• When you'll work - 70 hours over two-week period; 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with one unpaid hour for lunch. These hours may vary on occasion.
• What your benefits will be - 9% in lieu of benefits
• Your pension plan - Immediately eligible for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

• Support mental health and addiction clients who have been charged with low-risk offences
• Advocate for, establish, and assist in maintaining appropriate community linkages for clients
• Conduct functional, clinical, and needs assessments
• Prepare written reports for submission to the Court
• Support clients in attending court appointments and collaborate with relevant community resources
• Follow program support guidelines, working collaboratively to develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) completed within the last six months. In order to avoid delays in beginning a position, interested applicants who are in need of a PVSC are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible.

We require the following qualifications:

• University degree in a relevant area of study, preferably in the area of social work, psychology, or occupational therapy; a degree in nursing will also be considered equivalent when combined with educational or experiential specialization in psychiatric nursing (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma/certificate or official transcript, for ongoing education, an unofficial transcript will be accepted)
• Current registration in good standing with a relevant professional regulatory body
• Valid Driver's Licence and access to a personal vehicle
• Vehicle insurance in compliance with CMHA TVAMHS policy
• Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
• Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly

We prefer the following qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge and skill in clinical assessment, functional assessment, service planning, relapse prevention, and client advocacy
• Broad knowledge of, and practice in, evidence-based treatment approaches to working with individuals with severe mental illness and addictions
• Competence in relevant computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office suite and Outlook
• Two (2) or more years' experience working directly with individuals with mental illness and addictions
• Previous experience performing a case management function
• Employment experience working with individuals with addictions or in a supportive capacity within the justice system
• Current certifications in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Standard CPR / First Aid, and/or ASIST
