Why We Need You

Grain Millers is looking for a skilled and experienced HR Director to join our team in Yorkton, SK to uphold its strong reputation for delivering high quality products in a culture that celebrates its people. In this pivotal role, you'll lead Human Resources initiatives across our Yorkton facility, with additional support provided to Saskatoon and Rycroft locations. You'll partner with dynamic plant leadership teams primarily in Yorkton, with occasional on-site visits to Rycroft and Delisle to enhance our position as an employer of choice. Leadership and Change Management: Labour

  • Build relationships across the organization to support company and employee growth from day-to-day efforts to large scale change program enhancements (performance management, succession planning, compensation programs, employee engagement, and talent acquisition of key roles).
  • Contributes to and implements HR strategy to achieve business objectives and drive employee retention, development, and engagement. Partner with other internal HR resources to create and execute long-term HR strategies to grow and develop the company's talent capabilities.
  • Develop materials and coordinate aspects of communication relating to initiatives that have a broad-based audience in support of site leadership.

Succession Planning:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive succession planning strategies to ensure leadership continuity and talent retention in conjunction with General Manager, VP of Operations, and CHRO and other applicable leadership.
  • Ensure follow through on the local action items and follow-up to nurture talent against stated priorities.

Employee Relations, Labour Relations and Negotiations:

  • Provide guidance and oversight for compliance activities across handbooks/policies, workers compensation, leave administration, and other legal requirements.
  • Oversee labour relations activities, including contract negotiations, grievance resolution, and maintaining positive relationships with unions and employee representatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to management on labour relations issues.

HR Foundation, Collaboration, and Compliance:

  • Lead and implement HR strategies that support the company's growth and change initiatives. Work closely with the Chief HR Officer to elevate the HR function and align it with the company's strategic goals.
  • Lead HR projects and initiatives that enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement HR policies that align with legal requirements and organizational goals. Ensure compliance with labour laws and company standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of HR experience, including 5+ in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical expertise in all areas of HR (employee/labour relations, compensation, compliance, talent management, succession planning, and recruiting)
  • Experience in manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in union negotiations and labour relations.
  • Success navigating a matrix environment.
  • Effective at presenting information with small and large audiences, including ability to advise senior leaders with a constructive yet courageous point of view.
  • Strong collaborator and keen listener to internal customer needs (employees and leadership)
