Mikisew is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Accreditation Coordinator. Accreditation is an acknowledgment or recognition given to an individual or organization that officially meets the quality standards needed in performing a particular activity or service. An Accreditation Coordinator isresponsible for managing a facilitys accreditation activities, including ensuring that the Facility meets the requirements of the accrediting organization (Accreditation Canada).The Accreditation Coordinator oversees the accreditation process, including assessments; evaluates and reports the efficiency and effectiveness of the accreditation program. This role provides support and interpretive guidance on accreditation standards to the facility, leadership and evaluators before, during, and after on-site evaluation visits to assess compliance with the Standards of Accreditation. This professional position is responsible for the implementation/coordination of the accreditation process in accordance with established Accreditation Canada standards, policies, and procedures. The position reports directly to the Assistant Health Director and ultimately to the Health Director and Chief Executive Officer.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overseeing regulatory readiness: Working with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

Conducting audits: Performing internal audits and tracers to identify vulnerabilities

Communicating information: Reporting to leadership, committees, managers, and staff.

Creating tools: Developing tools to help managers maintain compliance

Coordinating assessment plans: Tracking and coordinating actions related to assessment plans

Monitoring timelines: Keeping track of timelines and program reviews

Supporting assessment activities: Providing ongoing support for assessment activities

Preparing accreditation materials: Working on the preparation of accreditation-related materials

Inspect records/reports and maintain historical directives. Maintain standards files to include proof of compliance. Responsible for maintaining all files and data entry for compliance with the accreditation requirements.

Supporting the team and management as necessary and when requested

Building strong relationships: liaising with the Accreditation team and leadership

Organize, facilitate, and participate on team evaluation visits to facility seeking initial and/or subsequent re-accreditation

Building solid knowledge about the Accreditation process among staff and managers: assure quality training and compliance with accreditation standards.

Plan and monitor the on-site assessments and maintain appropriate records relating to accreditation activities.

Work with stakeholders to enhance quality improvement processes and initiatives.

Serve as the chair/liaison of assigned committees (Quality Assurance, OH&S, Resident Committee)

Review, track, and respond to documents related to the assigned committees. Ensure committee members follow through on assigned tasks

Assist in conducting Accreditation Workshops for facility seeking initial accreditation and/or subsequent re-accreditation

Schedule, arrange travel/accommodations, and assist the on-site teams of evaluators

This role provides support and interpretive guidance on accreditation standards to institutions and evaluators before, during, and after on-site evaluation visits to assess compliance with the Standards of Accreditation

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE:

Proficiency in MS 360: Excel. Word, Outlook, power point

Previous recent experience with Accreditation Canada Assessments and Standards for health care facilities is essential

Previous experience working as an Accreditation Coordinator

Diploma or Bachelors degree in nursing or other related health care field required

Licensure/registration with an approved Alberta Health Profession College (mandatory).

Minimum of 5 years experience in health care field (in their respective discipline)

Excellent communication and writing skills- ability to communicate technical language

Must be a well-organized, reliable, enthusiastic individual to review, monitor, and evaluate facility process, procedures and compliance as part of the accreditation process

A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work. Additionally, all employees have an ongoing duty to disclose any charges or convictions that may occur during their employment with AHS.

Other Requirements

Possess a valid Class 5 AB drivers license and own or access to a vehicle.

Willingness to live in remote northern community - with associated logistical challenges of living and working in a remote location. Primary Location: Fort Chipewyan

Willingness to travel by small planes required
