Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Exploration Manager and the Director, Exploration to develop effective exploration programs;
  • Contribute technical expertise to the exploration programme in specialized fields such as, but not limited to: interpretation of carbonate and structural geology as it pertains to CRDs, exploration geochemistry, geophysics and alteration processes, metal zonation through CRD systems, geological mapping, regional geological syntheses, literature reviews; and presentations within the company and for external stakeholders;
  • Mentor and upskill the site team to increase technical knowledge, skills, and capabilities;
  • Provide sound technical advice to the company's exploration team (at Silvertip and Corporate) on methodology and techniques employed in the exploration programme;
  • Proven ability in interpretation of drilling and other geological and geotechnical information to develop geologic models and mineralization theories, delineate current and future exploration targets, and evaluations of mining reserves/resources in the areas under exploration.;
  • Excellent surface and underground mapping skills;
  • Ability to develop an understanding of specific mineralization processes and controls, spatial distribution, and genesis of mineralization;
  • Develop regional and deposit-scale geological models (lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization);
  • Enforce the geology teams' ownership of the geological models;
  • Good understanding of mineralogy and geometallurgy;
  • Ensures ongoing exploration programs meet the company's objectives and standards; prepares monthly corporate geology report; reviews drill program plans and approves amendments; reviews budgets and monitors ongoing expenditures;
  • Works closely with management to ensure that exploration programs are aligned with the Company's short, medium, and long term goals;
  • Provide technical leadership for the exploration team including review, development and maintenance of best practice technical exploration systems and protocols;
  • 3D software (Leapfrog, Micro Mine) and ArcGIS skills;
  • Collaboration with the resource modelling and Projects study teams to ensure that all relevant geological information is fully understood and incorporated into resource models and any PEA, PFS, FS studies that are undertaken;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology;
  • Advanced degree in mineral economics or geology preferred;
  • 12 - 15 years exploration and mining experience in CRD / Skarn / Porphyry- related precious and base metal mineralizing systems;
  • An excellent understanding of geological environments, deposit models, and ore-forming processes as pertains to the latest concepts of base and precious metal deposits;
  • An ability to think across-scales and to integrate diverse, large datasets for robust target generation and ranking;
  • In-depth knowledge of CRD – Skarn – Porphyry epithermal deposit models and styles of mineral occurrences and an in-depth knowledge of exploration techniques, in particular geophysics and geochemistry;
  • Focused and dedicated with strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

Additional Information:

  • Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
  • Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
