Job Description: Material Handler
Position Summary:
A Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of materials, supplies, and products within a warehouse, manufacturing facility, or other storage environment. The role involves receiving, storing, and distributing materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting the overall workflow of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Handling and Movement:
- Safely load, unload, and transport materials or products using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks).
- Move raw materials to production and finished goods to storage or shipping areas.
- Inventory Management:
- Accurately record inventory levels and update systems as necessary.
- Perform regular cycle counts and assist in inventory audits.
- Identify and report discrepancies or damaged goods.
- Shipping and Receiving:
- Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders or packing lists.
- Prepare and package outgoing shipments following company and customer requirements.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
- Organization and Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including storage areas and stockroom.
- Ensure materials are stored in appropriate locations to optimize efficiency and safety.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all workplace safety standards and company policies.
- Follow proper lifting techniques and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler, Warehouse Associate, or similar role.
- Familiarity with inventory systems and basic computer skills.
- Ability to operate forklifts or obtain certification (if not already certified).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy items (up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs]) and stand for extended periods.
