The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. RODS is committed to meeting the needs of newcomers by offering programs and services that enable them to achieve their goals and participate fully in the larger community.

The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to staff the full-time term position of Home Visitor / Program Support. This is a maternity leave coverage until March 31, 2026.

Position Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide ongoing intensive supportive services primarily through home visits to assigned immigrant and refugee families as well as to provide ongoing program support services primarily through developing materials and resources to the KidsFirst team leader and KidsFirst home visitors.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of family dynamics and early childhood development
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to families undergoing high degrees of stress
  • Awareness of the cultural values and practices within the immigrant/refugee families
  • Able to handle high stress and emotionally demanding work environments
  • Knowledge of settlement related issues facing immigrants and refugee families
  • Broad knowledge of local community resources that can assist immigrant and refugee families
  • Able to demonstrate maturity, a positive attitude, and strong conflict management skills
  • Experience in caseload management, curriculum delivery, home visiting service, documentation/reporting, data input/collection, privacy compliance, event organization, goal planning, monitoring, and evaluation of service
  • Experience in organizing and leading group activities
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, risk management, family centred, strength based, and solution focused practices/approaches
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and able to communicate effectively in a courteous manner
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint ) and data entry
  • Able to manage workload and carry out duties independently
  • Able to work flexible hours and function in multidisciplinary and cross-cultural settings
  • Able to develop materials and resources, respond to general inquiries, schedule/coordinate events, and compile documents and reports
  • Experience/knowledge of basic program support (i.e. filing, preapprovals, ordering supplies, caseload admission tracking, taking meeting minutes, overseeing program fleets, creating files, )
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Bi-lingual ability would be an asset
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Competencies
  • Ability to comply with RODS Documentation Complete data entries, compile documents, develop materials and resources and complete reports in a timely manner
  • Ability to comply with RODS and KidsFirst protocols, standards, and procedures (i.e. Confidentiality, Taxi/Nutrition Vouchers, Critical Incident, etc.)
  • Ability to demonstrate mutual trust and respect for all team members at all time. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all team members to better meet the needs of the families
  • Works with all team members to create a warm and accepting environment for all children and adults. Exhibits a positive attitude, which lends to productive work environment.
  • Able to provide services in a respectful and confidential Maintains professional level of confidentiality in regards to children, families, and staff. Relevant information will be discussed with the Home Visiting Supervisor, Team Leader and/or Executive Director
  • Maintain strength-based, family-centered, and culturally sensitive environment
  • Practices "zero-tolerance" for violence in the workplace
  • Strong computer and social media skills (i.e. Facebook, Zoom, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft 365 )
Required qualifications/education

This position requires a completion of a relevant secondary education certificate/diploma in Child Development, Human Services and/or a minimum of 2 years related experience is preferred. Also, the successful applicant will be required to have completed a valid Class 5-Novice 2 driver's license, access to an insured vehicle and provide a clean Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Prior KidsFirst training (i.e. Growing Great Kids) and ability to speak other languages is an asset.

Regular hours of work are Monday - Friday from 8:15am to 4:00pm. However, this position will be required to work outside of regular working hours when needed. There is a cost-shared benefits package and a 3% employer contribution to the Saskatchewan Pension Plan available to the employee with the successful completion of a six-month probationary period. The annual salary for this position is

$42,379.85 ($24.15 per hour).
