The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Fertilizer department within the Metals division for an Operator located in Fort Saskatchewan. The purpose of this position is to oversee the start-up and shutdown processes, monitor equipment within the circuits, and ensure the safe operation of systems while maintaining established settings and parameters. In addition, operate the Distributed Control System (DCS), and manage and direct workflow processes effectively.
In this role, you will be accountable for:
  • Troubleshooting circuit, and equipment upset conditions or issues.
  • Operating automated control systems.
  • Monitoring and inspecting plant equipment.
  • Measuring temperature, flow, and pressure.
  • Analyzing and recording instrument readings.
  • Performing routine equipment maintenance.
  • Cleaning and lubricating machinery and components.
  • Maintaining a daily log of operation, maintenance, and safety activities.
Skills and attributes for success:
  • 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate (ABSA).
  • 3–5 years of process plant experience; DCS experience required.
  • Sulphuric Acid Plant experience preferred.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
