General Information
Reporting to the Director - Major Projects, this role is a people leader who will work closely with other groups and leads from Business Development, Asset Management, Operations, Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, external EPC firms and contractors, and other internal/external stakeholders to support the development, construction, and commissioning of new power generation, hydrogen, and storage facilities.
This role will include direct reports including project engineers, quality engineers, and project controls analysts. This leadership role will provide strategic direction and have strong technical, project management, contract management, conflict resolution, quality management, project controls, organizational, and communication skills. They will hire and train engineers, analysts, and develop the systems, processes and tools required to plan and build new facilities.

Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the planning and on-site execution of major power generation and storage projects in accordance with Atura Powers Project Management practices and procedures, including FEED, and detailed engineering design, construction, and commissioning.
- Coordinate with internal and external engineering teams and senior leadership to develop and execute project scope, budget, execution plan, schedule, resource requirements, permit applications, commissioning plan, pre-start safety review, documentation, drawing modifications, close-out of punch list items, and training where appropriate.
- Create project execution plans to encompass schedules, budgets, resource requirements, permits and regulatory requirements.
- Support senior leadership in contract negotiations, contract management, and dispute resolution.
- Coordinate or direct the work of external consultants, EPC firms, and contractors for major projects ranging from $50M to $600M.
- Support senior leadership in the continuous development of project management tools and processes.
- Provide on-site support to ensure safe and successful execution of major projects ranging from $50M to $600M.
- Provide on-site quality control and technical oversight during construction and commissioning activities.
- Make independent decisions and communicate recommendations to management and other affected parties in a way that fosters consensus and facilitates efficient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Exceptionally organized with demonstrated experience managing multiple competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to provide and present timely and relevant feedback/reporting to various stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of Ontario-based HSE regulations and contract and legal agreement language, specifically pertaining to equipment supply, professional services, and project construction.
- Experience supporting Process Hazard Assessments (eg. What Ifs, HAZOPS, etc.)
- Industrial project execution and project controls knowledge and experience.
- Quality management knowledge and experience.
- Innovative, self-motivated, professional, and able to work without being under direct supervision and contribute in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment.
- Possess a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently to organize, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously including providing daily field support.
Education/Experience
- University degree in Engineering and current P. Eng. license with Professional Engineers of Ontario in a relevant discipline (mechanical, chemical, or electrical).
- Minimum of five years of previous experience in direct supervision of professional engineers in projection execution.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive relevant field experience in power generation, oil & gas, chemical, or major infrastructure projects involved with new installations, commissioning, operations, and/or maintenance.
- Project Management Professional desired.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of PC-based computer systems and software applications with an emphasis on Maximo, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
- Direct Maximo experience is considered an asset.
This position requires candidates to:
- Have and maintain a valid Ontario driver's license.
- Successfully complete a criminal record check.
- Travel across international borders including the United States and as such the candidate must be able to provide applicable travel documentation to this affect.
