General Job Description:

The IWF Specialist will respond to and prevent gender-based violence, foster well-being social inclusion and engagement, and promote economic empowerment and resilience in women who are socially and economically marginalized. With a continuum of wrap around supports you will provide:

  • Safety planning
  • Supportive counselling
  • Legal rights workshops and resources
  • Financial literacy training
  • Personal and professional coaching and mentorship
  • Systems navigation and referrals
  • Life skills and self-esteem workshops
  • Entrepreneurship skills development
  • Employment readiness workshops
  • Occupational skills training

Qualifications:

Post secondary education in social services, education, communications or equivalent. Experience in social services or domestic violence/sexual assault services field. Experience in program development, group facilitation and professional training development. Experience and comfort in conducting groups, workshops, and community presentations. The combination of work experience, life experience and education will be considered as part of the necessary credentials.

Job Status: This is a full-time position.

Salary: $46,806 - $65,601.76 annually, as determined by a combination of education and experience, in accordance with the collective agreement.

Benefits: Benefits will include, extended health care, RRSP contributions, sick and leave upon completion of probation period.

Schedule: 7-hour shift, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities:

  • To provide clients with service information and develop an inventory of relevant programs and services in our community.
  • Develop and implement processes for proactive referrals and for helping clients with accessing their service provider of choice
  • Engage in activities to build relationships with service providers and create collaborative networks.
  • Knowledge of barriers facing marginalized women: immigrant/refugee women, racialized populations, anti-poverty, and social justice issues.
  • Knowledge of sustainable livelihood framework, health, employment, environmental/gardening/healthy cooking, yoga, meditation, etc.
  • Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness of agency programs.
  • Consult as appropriate with supervisor, community partners, families, friends, and support networks.
  • To maintain accurate client records and statistical reports
  • To maintain the confidentiality of all client information
  • To engage in case management and case referral with other community organizations
  • To engage in regular supervision with the Executive Director or Clinical Manager
  • To attend and participate in staff and agency meetings to work as a team member.
  • Use a variety of technology to document all work; proficiency with computers is required.
  • Adhere to and work within all organizational, federal, and provincial guidelines and standards related to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Perform all other duties that may be required from time to time as requested by the Executive Director or Clinical Director.

A hybrid work model is in effect. As such, this position can involve working from home or office as required. Telephone, online virtual or in-person office appointments are available to clients.
