Maintenance Technician (Fixed term one year contract to start mid- January or early February)
Job description
CMP Group Ltd., a leading provider of Marine Products, Construction, and Industrial solutions is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the Vaughan location/team on a Fixed Term contract basis for one year with the possibility of extension or permanent hire. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining all facility, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient operating state. They will also be required to manage the repair, cleaning and maintenance of all production equipment and to support the manufacturing process in trouble shooting and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance of the equipment:
- Develop and Maintain Preventative Maintenance schedule
- Report on Effectiveness of Preventative Maintenance Program
- Make recommendations on equipment replacement and major overhauls
- Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping practices located in common areas, and in area of responsibility
- Work in a cost effective manner and maintains a high standards of quality and excellent workmanship.
- Documents maintenance work performed and maintains related records and files
Facility maintenance:
- Maintain facility by regularly scheduling preventative maintenance Contact contractors for any preventative maintenance and repairs as needed
- Create a PO requisition when department supplies are low or when a contractor is required
- Manage any upgrades or renovations to the facility within approved budgets.
- Responsible for general maintenance to the building and grounds
Continuous improvement:
- Manage and sustain 6S and Lean initiatives.
- Manage continuous improvement projects.
Safety:
- Participate as representative on company Health, Safety and Accessibility Committee.
- Enforces safety practices.
- Ensures all work areas meet or exceed as outlined in the Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Provides timely accident investigations or corrective actions to the Health, Safety and Accessibility Committee.
- Implements any changes required as per the Health, Safety and Accessibility Committee recommendations.
- Ensures Safety Walkthroughs are conducted prior to the Health, Safety and Accessibility Committee Meeting and actions any immediate concerns.
Quality:
- Ensure the Company's quality policies and procedures are followed
- Participate in Quality Audits as required and at least once per year.
- Closes Quality reports
Team building:
- Participates in 1X1 meetings with Plant Manager.
- Facilitates annual employee evaluations.
- Effectively manages the company disciplinary policy.
Training:
- Participate in training as required by company or Plant Manager
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience as a maintenance technician or in equipment maintenance
- 3+ years of fabrication, tool/ die and welding experience
- 3+ years of experience in reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints
- 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting production and quality issues
- 3+ years of experience participating as representative on company Health, Safety and Accessibility Committee.
- 3+ years of experience in enforcing safety practices and working knowledge of safety standards of equipment
- Millwright license (asset)
- Experience using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) is an asset
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Steel-toed safety boots
HOURS:
- Full time - Day Shift 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 4PM Monday to Friday
- Fixed Term one year contract with a possibility of extension or permanent hire
