Planning StudentWorking under the direction of the Director of Planning and Development, the Planning Assistant (Student/Co-Op) position is responsible for providing planning support to the Town of Kingsville. The position will assist with all aspects of planning, including review of operational/development planning applications, policy planning, and long-range planning projects.

Work is in an office environment, 35-hour week.
Hourly Rate of Pay:
$22.00 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical support to Planning Team on residential, commercial, and industrial development applications
- Assist with preparing public notice, public information centres, public meetings and other engagement requirements
- Conduct planning-related research and analysis related to attainable housing, growth-related industrial, commercial, and agricultural (including greenhouse) land supply and vacancies
- Assist with updating the office consolidations of the Official Plan and Comprehensive Zoning By-law to support mixed use development, attainable housing, and climate change adaptation
- Participate in field inspection and documentation for development applications and projects (site plan approvals, zoning amendments, etc.)
- Collect and compile data and work with other Municipal departments to develop infographics and other tools to document trends in development applications, value of construction, growth related development charges and supporting projects, and associated economic impacts
- Update Heritage inventory and Register information, including cemeteries
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Be a returning Urban and Regional Planning student in a recognized College or University program in Ontario and be legally entitled to work in Canada as a student
- Hold a valid driver's licence
- Be a self-motivated
- Have good written and oral communication skills
- Have the ability to demonstrate professionalism in dealing with the public
- Strong organization, interpersonal and time management skills
- Good technical comprehension of the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement and related regulations and policies
- Ability to work in a fast pace team environment and meet deadlines
- Able to handle information in a confidential matter
- Competency in GIS, graphic design tools, an asset
