OurHousing Support Workers (HSWs)are at the heart of our operations, working with our tenants to lay the foundation for a life of their choosing:

Responsibilities:

HSWs are responsible for providing support to our tenants which helps them to maintain their housing including ...

  • Providing an orientation for new tenants to the resource centre, building (including house rules, routines, equipment and maintenance and emergency procedures) and surrounding community resources
  • Ensuring tenants have access to the broad range of financial, health and social services that they may need, as well as support in times of crisis.
  • Maintaining quality of life through regular check ins, communications and feedback
  • Developing a support plan with each new tenant outlining support needs and individualized goals and reviewing and updating the plan as necessary
  • Providing coaching and assistance as necessary to help tenants improve their health and well-being, develop life skills, increase their sense of belonging, find meaningful activities and build resilience
  • Making referrals, advocating where necessary, and liaising with community agencies/individuals who also provide support to tenants
  • Working with the housing support team to develop programs and services to respond to tenant needs and emergencies including providing focused support for those with hoarding behaviours according to Ecuhomes strategy and procedures
  • Working with the maintenance department to identify preventative and on-going maintenance needs
  • Applying the requirements of the Residential Tenancy Act in all housing duties
  • Identifying and recommending to the Housing Support Coordinator purchases for their tenants
  • Working with Housing Support Coordinator to ensure all tenant files, tenant logs and house files are kept in accordance with agency standards and funding requirements
  • Providing input to the housing support team in the development of Ecuhome practices, policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a social services related program
  • 2 years of experience working in social services/community services organization(s): experience working with people who are homeless or hard-to-house is preferred
  • Resilientand team oriented disposition
  • Possesses an understanding of the systemic reasons for homelessness
  • Ability to work cooperatively and develop relationships with tenants, colleagues and community agencies
  • Experience with the Residential Tenancies Act and knowledge of other relevant legislation preferred
  • Ability to manage caseload through documentation and reporting usingMicrosoft Word, Excel, OutlookandNetSuite
  • Certificates in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention an asset

This position is in the bargaining unit.

Job Type: Full Time, Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Salary: $49,337.81

Location: Properties in the old City of Toronto
