Job Brief:
The 1st-4th Year Instrument Apprentice field technician will work with and learn from the Instrument Journeyman and other apprentices. The Apprentice will be shown practical skills and learn to test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learns to read and understand P&ID drawings.
- Assists with Installing process control and measurement instrumentation on existing and new field equipment and processes (transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.).
- Performs mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification; removes and installs small piping and tubing.
- Rebuild control valves and tune controllers.
- Performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement, and tests as required); maintains field instrument records and standards.
- Uses pressure and/or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
- Installs and repairs chemical pumps.
- Participates/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
- Provide on-call support as required.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- 1st-4th Year Instrument Apprentice Experience/Schooling completed.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
- Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
- Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech's standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).
- Standard First Aid/CPR with AED; H2S Alive, CSO, CSTS.
- Experience in oil and gas is an asset.
