Job Details
Wage range: $43.17 to $55.39
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day
Primary location: CASA Centre
Secondary location: CASA Fort Road
Union: In-scope
Classification: Mental Health Therapist
FTE: 1.0 FE (36.25 hours/week)
Status: Temporary (to approximately November 2025)

About the Role
The Triage and Transition team works with families beginning their journey at CASA, and those who are ready to transition out of CASA programs into the community. The team eliminates gaps in services, while offering a streamlined intake experience and a warm hand-off to community partners. Triage and Transition improves the patient's journey through CASA as well as the service provider's experience at CASA by way of ensuring the right patient is accessing the right program.
The Mental Health Therapist will:
  • Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments for assigned preschoolers, children and adolescents.
  • Develop treatment plans and formulate diagnoses using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools as appropriate.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to support the patient in achieving therapeutic goals, utilizing a variety of developmentally-appropriate treatment approaches.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for children and caregivers.
  • Carry out case management functions including convening case conferences and liaising with community services and other professionals involved with the child and family (e.g. education, social services, justice and health ministries).
  • Advocate on behalf of the child and family as appropriate.
  • Contribute to a multi-disciplinary clinical team whose purpose is assessment, treatment, case review and consultation.
  • Follow agency policy and practice regarding admission, discharge and maintenance of health records.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy.
  • Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice culturally-safe therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.

Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) or Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) training, as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
