An exciting and unique opportunity to shape the care experience for seniors in a new long-term care home, built on the principles of person-centered, emotion focused living - awaits you in the residential community of Cardinal Creek in Orleans, just outside Ottawa, ON.
Planned to be opened in January 2026, Cardinal Creek LTC will welcome and become home to 224 residents from the neighbouring communities as well as the daily destination and inspiration for more than four hundred team and community members.
About the Role:

The Nurse Practitioner champions this approach and leads by example while being responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the residents' plan of care and quality of life for all. Additionally your leadership and collaboration in research, education and evidence-based practice initiatives will optimize outcomes for the resident, long term care home and the health system.
Starting in early 2025, this role will be the one of the first to join the Cardinal Creek team and will be instrumental in supporting the clinical preparations for opening of the home.
Your Impact:
- In collaboration with the Medical Director and Attending Physicians, provides comprehensive primary care to residents including but not limited to performing person-centered health assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostics, as well as follow up.
- Collaborates and consults with the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team members, as well as external resources regarding residents' plan of care as well as participating in care conferences.
- Assists, supports, guides, and provides consultation to the Director of Care, Nurse Managers, nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members regarding challenging clinical situations.
- Identifies and implements research-based innovations for improving resident care and collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and/or community to identify research opportunities and to conduct and/or support research
- Any and all other tasks as assigned
What you will need:
- Registered Nurse Practitioner in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or a Registered Nurse Practitioner registered with a regulatory authority in a Canadian jurisdiction, other than Ontario, and holds in that jurisdiction the equivalent of a certificate of registration authorizing independent practice in Ontario as of right exemption Bill 60
What you will also have:
- Comprehensive knowledge of evidence based clinical practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of long-term care concepts and philosophies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Post-graduate education and experience in gerontology (recommended)
- Specialty certification in gerontological nursing (recommended)
- Experience working as a Nurse Practitioner,
- Experience in long-term care, preferred.
- Experience providing leadership and supervision in any healthcare environment
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal
- Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
- As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing (within the last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X-ray (within the last year), as per Public Health requirements
